In the workplace, racism most often manifests itself through microaggressions, which are indirect, subtle or even unintentional acts of discrimination against others – often taking the form of stereotypes. Awareness is key to understanding how racism impacts each of us. The key terms covered in this course are the starting point of that understanding.
Racism has existed throughout human history. It's the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities - especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another. Racism has started wars, influenced political systems, perpetuated slavery, the development of nations, and even laws and legal codes of our country.
