Seek Reverse Information When Interviewing

Effective & Legal Interviewing

Reverse information is the opposite of what the candidate told you, or the opposite of your reaction to the candidate. It is designed to give you a broad sample of the candidate’s job skills and help you get new information to balance an overly positive or overly negative opinion of the candidate.

Additional Information

Teaching Moment: Ask a question that is the opposite of the question you asked. Or, ask a question that is the opposite of your subjective reaction to the candidate’s answer. For example, if you asked about the candidate’s strengths, you would follow-up with a reverse question on the opposite of the candidate’s strong point.
