What is a Generation?

Defining & Discussion Generations in the Workplace

Article Summary: A “generation” is defined as a group of people born and living about the same time. Within each generation, its members share values, behaviors and work ethics that have been shaped by the economic, social and political climates in which they come of age.

Additional Information

From one generation to another, there are significant differences in “world view” and work styles. These generation “gaps” sometimes lead to misunderstanding, miscommunication, conflict and the corresponding loss of productivity.
